My Rates -
Although
I do make occasional exceptions in unique circumstances, I normally ask
for $8.50 per hour which allows me to give Uncle Sam his share yet keep
about $6.00 of it to help pay bills and buy groceries. Why so cheap? I
am a simple man and am not emphatuated with the luxuries of life ($300K
house, $45K car, $300 suits, caribbean cruises, etc.). I am a blue jeans
and t-shirt guy, and after 15 years in the IT industry wearing "dress clothes"
I prefer to be comfortable over appearing "professional". Experience has
taught me "Professional" is more an attitude than a matter of attire. I
have met enough morons wearing Armani suits to fill the rose bowl.

If
you are just wanting to put a few pictures up, provide some basic informatoin
about yourself, interests, family, or things of this nature and only need
a single page without many frills this can often be done in one hour. An
example of this would be using the 5 megabytes most ISPs include in your
internet access package as a home directory and posting new baby pics,
vacation photos, or even something like poems you'd like to share with
family and friends.

For
more complicated pages and/or sites a little more time is involved. Often
folks wanting this will have a number of pages or sections and usually
have some kind of hosting package ranging form the free offerings to low
cost packages. These usuallly require a little more planning and more work
on a theme. However, my hourly rate makes possible much more than if one
were to contract a commercial web developer or development firm. Feel free

I
ask that payment be made BEFORE the work I have done goes live. In the
past I would allow people to pay me afterwards but unfortunately this has
resulted in many unpaid hours and I can no longer let this sort of thing
slide. It may sound a bit harsh but after being stiffed so many times I
have had to change my perspective and preferences. It seems sad considering
what I ask for, but there are those that will cheat anyone. |
