- 1980's Westbury Standard -
There's only one way to describe this one. WOW! This was actually a gift from my good friend Doc. He knew I was extremely interested in this one since I absolutely love my Westbury Deluxe. There was no telling him NO, so at my door it showed up. There was quite a bit of discussion about the pickups, but after I rattled the rocks in my head a few times I was clear on what the options were and chose to go with the original pickups hands down. Boy am I glad. I am not much of a DiMarzio man, but these pickups are killer for the kind of tone I am after in a guitar like this!
.
It has a few dings here and there, but no major damage anywhere and it is in fantastic playing condition. The bridge pickup has that classic rock tone and bite without being too trebly and the neck pickup has this gorgeous deep ring to it that I don't think I can duplicate otherwise. The feel is great and the action is perfect. Now that the pickups are dipped I can stand right in front of the cabs and laugh at high gain and volume.
.
I knew Doc would not let me pay for it, so I packed up one of my Cardinals (the red one that I had resurrected and tweaked quite a bit) and off to NJ it went without a word of warning. I sure hope it stays out to play in his "Guitar Sanctuary"!
.
Thanks Doc!
