- 1981 Carvin Koa DC127T -
I was shocked to see this guy hanging in a local pawn shop with a price tag of $365. In a gamble I plunked down 3 bills and the next thing I knew I was walking out of the shop with a Koa carvin including formfit hardshell case. I don't think people give these guitars enough credit as they are very well made high quality professional instruments! I didn't particularly care for the Carvin pickups as they were a bit wimpy. I can't help it if I love that thick, woolly, rude humbucker sound. They came out pronto! Now an OBL neck and a Duncan Distortion bridge are in their place. The best way to describe this guitar's tone is dark, ominous, large, almost threatening, and charged with 10,000 volts of raw power ready to eliminate the first joker that calls it ugly!
.
This monster will walk through every audible harmonic anytime a power chord is struck and held. Just to see what it would do I wanged it from one harmonic to the next for almost 5 minutes straight and that's only because I got tired before it did! Iommi, Lynch, Guitar God Randy, Wylde, Lee, Satriani, this guitar can do it all. The neck is so fast I almost need seat belts! It looks pretty plain jane but I wouldn't want to say that where it could hear me for fear of sonic retaliation!  =]
