I
guess this pretty much rounds out my set of PEs. This one is bone stock
and will most likely stay that way. When it arrived it was strung with
huge flatwound jazz strings (don't ask me why). The frets had some faceting
but with a light re-crown and polishing they are as good as new now. The
hardware luckly did not show the degree of pitting normal for this series,
but there was gunk and tarnish covering nearly all of it so out came the
StewMac fine compound and the elbow grease. The pickups will still need
to be dipped, and there are a number of dings that will need to be drop
filled if I want the finish moisture tight. The finsh is in realatively
good shape but shows mild worming, scuffing, and a bit of buckle rash in
places that fortunately does not stand out in the pics. Most of the scuffing
can be buffed out if I get the notion to do so, but it's not hurting anything
as it is. It plays as well as my newer PE-R80, and all in all I'm quite
happy with it. It is definitely a keeper.
