This
one has been sitting in the rack here for a while waiting for me to get
off my duff and get it up here. Another sweet 335 clone with some gorgeous
grain and unusual laminated center stripe. I think the biggest complaint
I have about this guitar is it smells. Yes, I said it smells. It has this
musty smell like it has been stuffed away in Granny's basement for 30 years.
It has been out in the open for over a month now, but every time I play
it the funk wofts out of the F holes (in this case Funk Holes) and I have
to turn on a fan. =[ I have half a mind to put about 6 moth balls in it
and bag it for a week. Phew!
.
I
dropped a pair of Duncan made Washburn pickups in it along with a couple
of spare nickel covers I had here which perked things up quite a bit! The
action is nice, sustain is good, and the body have excellent resonance.
The binding on the inside curves of the horns is starting to shrink and
has seperated from the body leaving a tiny gap which I think can be drop-filled.
There was one orphan tuner on it so off the originals came along with the
morphodite and i have a temp set of gold tuners on it until I can get the
correct Schallers. The push-pull tone (original) pots were factory wired
for coil cut but are now series/parallel.
