- Gone but not forgotten -
1981 Westbury Custom

Yes, it's another eBay acquisition, and it has turned out to be one heck of a deal indeed! There's a small ding on the front, a small 1/8" chip on the tip of the back of one of the horns and light buckle rash, and naturally the gold hardware is a bit tarnished, but that's it. Otherwise this beautiful example of Uncle Matt's work is pretty clean. Two bright humbuckers, two tones, and a 6-way series/parallel/coil-cut rotary switch give it an almost endless array of tonal combinations. The action is fantastic, and it handles like a dream!

I have not given it the normal workover just yet. I imagine I will do the same for it that I did the PE-R80 with respect to the corrosion of the gold plating. I'll polish it down to the nickel where it's bad giving it a gold-n-chrome look. The neck pickup squeals just a bit at high volume/gain so I'll need to pot the pickups sooner or later. Not much else needs to be done! That's a refreshing change of pace! As usual, it's not going anywhere. Those of you that ask if I am willing to sell are simply wasting your time. Any more I'm just going to ignore that stuff! =] No means NO!

Thanks John!
