Univox "Flower Power Acid Trip" 12-string

Hey, don't tweak on me, it was given to me many years ago in pieces. Another one of Arai's ventures into the unknown! Actually it took me 3 years to find a saddle for the high Es that closely resembled the originals. What I thought was unique about this guitar is that the 12 strings are matched pairs! Not the usual 12-string config. The nut slots (it's the original nut) were what tipped me off as each pair was cut for the same gauge string. I got it from the original owner and it sat in his attic in pieces in it's original chipboard case for at least a decade.

I was reluctant and skeptical when I first strung it up and gave it life but after about 10 minutes I was blown away. It did not have that classic 12-string sound but with a little creative reverb, delay, and chorus it became a symphony of guitars playing in unison! Yes, it plays almost as weird as it looks but it handles much easier than one would guess. I'm sure it's only psychological, but every time I pick it up I can see that huge headstock out of the corner of my eye and it starts weighing more and more and I have to look away for a moment! Imagine the fun Floyd would have had with this one on their Umma Gumma album!
