1982?
X240 Electra Omega
Man
did I ever get lucky on this one! It popped up with a Buy It Now of $229.
I'm shocked it lasted as long as it did, but the pics were not the best
and kinda fuzzy/out of focus. I think everything on this jewel was bone
stock, even the dust and oxidation on the frets! Whoever owned it obviously
knew how to take care of a guitar! I think I have found only 3 tiny dings
and about 6" of very light belt buckle worming on the back.
The
tonal capabilities of this thing are not easily matched. The toggles are
coil cut and the rotary puts the pickups in single, both parallel in phase,
both parallel out of phase, and I believe both in series in phase. I still
need to confirm this but going on what it sounds like that's my guess.
I can't say enough about this guitar. The gamble this time paid off well.
The
pickups squealed like a herd of angry pigs but dipping them fixed that
pronto. They have excellent warm tone yet bright, and are very harmonic
responsive. Sustain is excellent, and the action easily puts a stock LP
to shame. The frets requred dressing as the normal fingerboard shrinkage
had taken place over the years but any more I can do that in my sleep.
Thanks goes to the guys at
Fiesta Pawn in Texas!
