Aria
Pro II Cardinal CSxxx
.
Unsure
of what the model is. It's the first of three like it that I have seen,
and it has gone to the ower of the second.
|
|
Early
'90s Samick SG
.
I
traded the Hondo for this one. It turned out to be a smoker, and didn't
have that horrid 2nd fret Korean neck joint. It moved to make room for
Uncle Matt's. =]
|
|
1981
Aria Pro II Cardinal CS-400
.
What
I thought would be my ultimate Cardinal ended up not feeling near as good
to me as the 3XX models.
|
|
1972
Gibson SG III
.
Well,
it's not a Custom or Deluxe, but just as fast and the Seymourized Mini
HBs sure pumped it up. Not my cup of tea though.
|
|
98-99
Carvin DC135T
.
Although
it's close to my DC127T, it never really quite warmed up to me like the
brown beast did.
|
|
Epiphone
Sig. Series Slash Les Paul
.
You'll
just have to read about this one. Another one of those "second lease on
life" guitars.
|
|
1981
Hondo H937N
.
This
was traded for the Samick SG (here also). Sweet guitar, but in retrospect
it has nothing on the Session II.
|
|
Mid-Late
'70s Vega Neck Thru
.
This
was the predessor to the Martin E series and distributed by Martin. The
neck was just a tad wide and flat at the body for me.
|
|
Hohner
Revelation RTX
.
Thinking
it would be an alternative to the DC127T, the single coils just couldn't
keep up with the brown beast.
|
|
Washburn
WM-Dunno
.
One
of the very few Koreans I have had that I was sad to see go. But hey, wouln't
YOU rather have an Aria Pro II TA-70? =]
|
|
Mid
'90s Epiphone Del Rey
..
It
was definitely a screamer! Pity is, when I became accustomed to all the
others, the neck was suddenly just a bit too thin. This one was before
Epi ruined them.
|
|
1986-89
Epiphone X-1000
.
The
"sister" to the Spotlight, it was a deal I couldn't pass up. The one thing
I hated about this early Korean model was the darn Stienberger tremolo.
|
|
1981
Skylark model "2588"
.
Once
thought to be an obscure label, it is in fact a single production run from
Matsumoku that ended up in the hands of J.C. Penney.
|
|
1980
Electra Working Man
.
Pretty
much cannibalized when I got it, it became a test bed for several ideas,
and a darn nice playing test bed I might add.
|
|
1982?
Electra X240 Omega
.
Classic
Paul without the weight and twice the tonal flexibility, I don't think
I can go back to the "expensive logo" again. So much for "Big G" =]
|
|
1987
Westone Session II
.
Probably
one of nicest ES-175 clones I have had, it would appear few survive today.
|
|
1998
Ibanez AS-80 Butterscotch
.
One
of only two Koreans I own, it is head and shoulders above any other Korean
hollow I have played. The Duncan JBs don't hurt either. =]
|
|
1971
Conrad "Ampeg Lucite" Copy
.
Modeled
after the Ampeg but much improved, it is one of the cleanest examples I
have ever seen.
|
|
1988
Carvin V220 Flying Star
.
It's
a Hair Band metal machine but not for sissies! It weighs a ton and so fast
it's illegal to play it on the open road at anything louder than 3!
|
|
1981
Westbury Custom
.
An
excellent example of Uncle Matt quality, it plays like a dream and with
the L6S stlyle switch, it has a tonal range far beyond average.
|
|
Mid
70s Lyle Hollowbody
.
Curiosity
got the best of me here. A true hollow body, the extra work it took was
worth it. This and the Conrad BK both have a wonderful vintage tone.
|
|
1977?
Electra X410 JazzStrad
.
Elegance
and Class in guitar form. From country to Nugent, I have not found anything
to top it yet, but the TA-70 sure comes close.
|
|
Mid
70s Epiphone Crestwood
.
Modeled
after the '60s Crestwood, it's a lightweight speed monster oozing with
classic tone.
|
|
Univox
"Acid Trip" 12-String
.
Okay,
it's strange looking, and a bit unwieldy, but it does some wild stuff no
other guitar can do!
|
|
Mid
70s Conrad "Barney Kessel"
The
sister to the Lyle, this guitar definitely earned the title of "Hell Guitar".
A treat for any Fogerty fan.
|
|
1982
Aria Pro II Cardinal CS-350
.
Originally
a copycat purchase by an eccentric collection, somehow I managed to wrangle
it from him. What can I say, I love the Cardinals! =]
|
|
1973
Alvarez 5021 12-String Acoustic
.
Not
your normal setup, and the only acoustic I own. It has a unique delicate
voice all it's own, almost hypnotic.
|
|
The
No-Bake Cheesecake Blues Deluxe
I started
this with a beat up Cardinal CS-350 body and neck along with spare parts
from a trashed Raven. It now lives to smoke the frets!
