About Me, My Music, and My Guitar Jones -
It
all started at age 15 when my Dad bought me a second hand Norma guitar,
Manny's fuzz box, and small Gibson tube amp. It will probably date me,
but the fist song I learned was Smoke On The Water by Deep Purple. I had
dreams of becoming a rock star, but youthful stupidity kept me from this.
Despite this that first guitar launched a lifelong passion for music. Since
then I have owned literally hundreds of guitars. Everything from cheesy
Tiescos to Gibson Les Pauls. Over the years I have been on a quest for
the ultimate guitar(s).
.
Early
on after several inexpensive guitars I lucked into a trade for an Aria
Pro II Cardinal Series CS-350 (1982) which my Mom helped me get. I later
picked up a second, and then an Aria Pro II PE-R80. To this day I've not
found a guitar that comes anywhere close to them I have had custom
made Richs, vintage Strats, 16 Les Pauls, Several SGs, and a number of
other sought after guitars. I always came back to those humble guitars
made by Matsumoku, a now defunct guitar manufacturer.
.
My
influences and preferences are pretty wide, going from Ozzy to Bach, with
Vangelis, Kraftwerk, and Peter Paul and Mary tucked somewhere in the middle.
I cannot stand rap crap, disco, thrash/death/scream metal, nor do I have
any use for most all of today's music, which to my ear all sounds like
Creed which never gave me wood. For nostagia's sake I've put my original
About
Me pages back up wich includes many of my opinions and thoughts on
some of the sillier aspects of the guitar world in general and what guitars
and music are to me. Enough about me, back to more important things. The
guitars of course! |
