How I can help -
Often
I am asked to help with an upgrade gone terribly wrong. Sometimes it is
bad hardware, sometimes drivers, and sometimes it is simply an older component
is not compatible with the new one. In any case most packaging as well
as store staff are not going to tell you the pitfalls, this is something
you find out on your own. Most oftten you are left dealing with the manufacturer's
technical support and this seldom fun and sometimes yields no results.
Sometimes one doesn't know how to upgrade their system. Quite often I can
help here.
.
I
've done countless hard drive upgrades and it is one of the most common
upgrades. Simple upgrades are a breeze with the right tools and a little
experience. Failing hard drives sometimes present more challenges, in particular
if one wishes to salvage their data and configuration. The tools used for
this take more time but increase the chance of data recovery considerably.
I have been told by numerous people that when they had their hard drive
replaced everything was lost. I am curious how often the data COULD have
been salvaged compared to how many times it was simply omitted from the
process. The same goes for an operating system that has somehow gone south.
Sometimes it CAN be recovered. If the data is important it does not hurt
to attempt recovery.
.
At
one time or another I have heard just about everyone I know complain about
their system running slowly. One reason is the system has not been maintained.
Most of the time this is no fault of the owner. They simply weren't instructed
on how to do this. It is not brain surgery. Part of it is caution, the
other common sense. Another of the main reasons a system will bog down
and often act bizarre is when a trojan or virus has manageg to settle in.
There ARE ways to prevent this, and I am happy to both help rid you of
these pests and teach you how to prevent this in the future. Whatever the
case, I am happy to help if I can. If so, that's good, and if not, no harm
done and just as important, no cost. It makes no sense to pay for something
one does not receive. |
