The
paint set is finished here, and save for the ususal NOOB mistakes turned
out halfway decent. Hopefully I can afford to practice more later when
I can afford to waste a little paint. Right now the budget is tight and
I had to make what little I had count. This is the first time I had ever
used a professinal spray gun and up close you can tell. I managed to create
some pretty interesting runs the first coat of clear and had to wetsand
them smooth before the final coat of clear. There is some orange peel and
a couple of places I did not get good even coverage. Still in all it will
do for now until I can afford to do better.
.
After
finally getting the right rear tire the rolling chassis is together and
ready for engine. Since the front fender was not designed to accomodate
disc caliper mounts I had to slip it under the caliper mounts but fortunately
it did not skew the calipers any. The shocks are set as low as they can
be but I left the stock eyelets in case it does bottom out. Even though
the saddle is a good 5" lower than a stock CB because how the seat is mounted
it still feels a little tall at a stop. With feet on forwards though the
butt sits right in the pocket. There's no sliding around in this saddle
when I'm rolling down the road. I'll wait to do the next update until everything
is mounted and it is ready fro wiring. Maybe next year I can afford to
drop a 16" rear wheel under it and go with the wide whitewalls I had originally
wanted to do but just couldn't justify the cost this time around.
